The Development of Virtual Education: A Global Perspective
This report provides a detailed look at the differences in the application of information and communication technologies in open and distance learning around the world. The site consists of a series of regionally based reports (USA, Canada, Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, Africa, India, Asia, Australia and New Zealand). Each report also provides a number of suggestions for policy makers and education leaders about the development of models for virtual learning.
Ultimately, the study concludes that whilst the application of information and communication technologies in the practice of open and distance learning is growing rapidly, the concept of truly virtual education is still more rhetorical that real.
