Have you ever wanted to see what a course looks like before you begin or wanted to know what other teachers are doing but found the site hidden behind passwords? The TAFEVC is not open- it is still fully protected but now that the courseware is available – free to Victorian RTO’s and for licence elsewhere you can have a look at a huge variety of course available for online and hybrid delivery.

What is the TAFE Virtual Campus?

The TAFE VC is a Victorian Government service for any resident of Victoria to access fully accredited TAFE programs through online enrolment via a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). The courseware can be licenced to non-victorian RTO’s.

The TAFE VC provides a learning management system for the delivery of e-learning.

The TAFEVC has 3 basic components

  1. An information portal containing a range of information and links related to e-learning and the Vocational Education and Training sector.
  2. A Server containing a Learning Management System (WebCT) for Education Providers to deliver their courses.
  3. An Online Courseware catalogue containing e-learning resources for Education Providers to copy and modify.

Registered Training Organisations are allocated a secure (password protected) site within the TAFEVC. Teachers can develop their own courses to deliver to students or request a copy of a ready-made resource from the Online Courseware Catalogue . This copy can then be modified to suit the needs of the provider, teacher and student.

Follow the link to the teacher resources site in the Online Courseware Catalogue http://www.tafevc.com.au/Pl03/TEACHERS/COURSES.ASP

Then select the link to view the catalogue

The TAFE VC catalogue has now over 1000 units or modules available for teachers to use for delivery from the TAFE VC.

Search for a Unit /Module. catologue page

Select a module and click on the ACCESS UNIT/MODULE button. Make sure that you choose ACCESS to view the courseware. Victorian RTO’s can then go ahead and Request a copy for their use, but non-Victorians must go through the licensing process with TAFE frontiers if they wish to use the courseware. See TAFE frontiers

All courseware available from the catalogue is available free for any teacher to use. Once the resource is located within the provider area it can be modified for use by the teacher – that includes modifying for branding and marketing purposes as well as for specific delivery or pedagogical purposes.
