Planning for professional development is increasingly an important part of managing our work lives. Often it is difficult to decide which type of professional development is the most appropriate to meet the learner's needs. The most appropriate learning strategies are those that take into account the context in which the learning takes place.
The PD Options Matrix, developed by the Professional Development Network of TAFENSW, allows staff and their managers to match a range of professional development options such as action learning or mentoring against a range of individual circumstances eg confident & experienced learners, money constraints or when the learning is linked with pay or promotion. Using the matrix may open up a wider range of professional development options which are more closely aligned to the learners individual circumstances.
