The journey continues.......
Good project and great team..... “We can see where this is heading and really still have a long way to go. However, this project has given us a clearer understanding of where we want to be”.... team member feedback.
Our project team was made up of Horse Industry teachers, administrators and potential end users, ie. Horse Trainers.
The project objectives focused very much on the usability of our current on-line package (which we know is immature) and how to best support our students and our facilitators/teachers in the short term. Longer term we will be looking at how to develop a more mature on-line product. As with most industry training this comes down to $$$$ & cents.
What have we achieved .....???
- A draft Student Induction Guide including (tested) Student Skills Audit
- A draft Standards of Practice Protocols for our facilitators
- Short term recommendations for improvements to the Racing On-line Package
- Action Plan for moving right along – looking at a National collaborative approach to developing an improved Racing On-line Package and the associated support resources.
Check out the team buddy group PowerPoint presentations attached:
- Learner Induction Guide – What is Required?
- Bright Ideas – for the development and success of on-line training for the NSW Thoroughbred Racing Industry
Our journey continues ..... and what a great journey it is ..... improving the quality and flexibility of our training for our current and our future industry learners.
The ‘Racing towards Flexible Learning – 2003’ team members wish to thank the NSW LearnScope Management Team for the opportunity to continue on our journey and their support throughout the project.
The Student induction guide could easily be used by many others to provide a checklist of essentials for preparing students to learn online.
And your "bright ideas" look like a good checklist for teachers to make sure that they have done everything to be ready for the start of an online class also.
Thnaks for sharing them here.
Best of luck with your Racing On-line package.
