In NSW persons without a "Green Card" are not permitted onto a building site. Persons are required to have a Green Card on all building sites. This may include a plumber repairing a hot water service, or an electrician installing a new stove wired into a circuit as well as traditional "building work".
This requirement restricts access to students in year 10 doing Work Experience and VET students requiring Work Placement. Teachers are often asked to provide extra curricular courses for students requiring a Green Card for their work placement. OR they can provide students with access to SafetyLine, the WA Government's WorkCover site.
The opening page is worth a wander round for new users as there is a wealth of information available. What you are after is accessed by the SMARTMOVE icon in the top RH corner of the page.
It takes you to the WorkSafe Smartmove page. It has Teacher and Student Guides, General and Industry Modules, Tests, Resources and Links. Students work through the Modules, and take the test.
"When you have read the WorkSafe Smart Move information you are ready to take the self assessment test. If you answer more than 75% of the questions correctly you will receive an on-line certificate from the Minister for Labour Relations". The certificate is accepted in NSW, and I presume, other States.
This is a valuable resource for schools with a work placement, VET building and Construction and Metals and Engineering students.
