This Australian site offers three Microsoft Word tutorials aimed at demonstrating how easy it is to use Word. The tutorials are structured for Word 97 and Word 2000.
Tutorial 1 : Getting Started: CONFIDENCE Builder starts with the basics of turning your machine on and accessing the software. By the end of this tutorial, you'll be able to type a letter. It comes with images of the relevant parts of the screen including menus. The instruction is in a series of easy to follow steps, with clearly marked, if crude, navigation.
Tutorial 2: Microsoft Word Is Easy When You Know How. The 9 parts of this tutorial look in more depth at letter layout, email and file management. The first two parts of this tutorial are free and cover dialog boxes and select and drag. Cleverly, the authors get you to the point where you'll want more and then ask you to aorder the rest of the tutorial. The cost of the whole tutorial is $A30.
Tutorial 3: Tabs, Tables, Tips and Tricks works the same way as tutorial 2. It offers the first two sections on page setup and indents, free and then asks that you pay for the rest.
This site will certainly get you started on using Word, and for a cost of $A60 you will be able to own tutorials 2 and 3. As a freebie its fine, but for money I'd prefer to pay for something more intense and complete. I also felt a bit miffed at arriving halfway through the tutorial and then being asked to pay for the rest.
