The second style of creating digital stories can be explored with the wonderful software from Shockwave, called 'PhotoJam'.

This time I must give credit to some colleagues at Swinburne University of Technology (TAFE) division for their contribution. Thanks to them I've been able to explore some useful techniques for creating the illusion of movement and adding music to my digital photos without any huge expense or steep learning curve.
The trial version of PhotoJam was swift to download and easy to use. A most intuitive program with such an elegant finish you'll just want to buy a copy. However, the trial version will get you diving into the intricacies of digital storytelling and they also offer the ability to store your finished work on a CD, email to a friend and store on their website for a short period of time. Brilliant!
PhotoJam offered a range of music clips to add to my story, and a beautiful array of transitions to choose from. I could even give the illusion that all my photos were the old sepia kind and give it the old-fashioned movie reel appearance, complete with the blips and lines, crackles and out-of-sync. look. Perfect!
On their website you can also have a look at samples of stories to get you thinking about the possibilities and the applications for your teaching.
I'm convinced that digital storytelling, in all its many guises is going to be one of the new technologies to move into centre stage very soon.
Have a go at this software and come back and tell us what you think!
Next I'll be talking to you about the 'digital stories of the First kind' using Adobe Premiere!
